SOW Heath Project
The City of Heath and Park Board have launched a pilot project called "SOW Heath," which aims to plant native wildflowers like the Bluebonnet in the community. The project began on city-owned land at Heath Crosslands and FM 549 and is expected to result in blooms next spring, followed by expanded growth in Years 2 and 3. The Bluebonnets are perennial and do not require watering. If successful, future planting sites could include city trails, and residents are encouraged to plant native wildflowers at home. The project was led by volunteer wildflower expert Jerry Shipe, and soil preparation was done by Jeff Cox. I'm glad that there's a project like this.
